Our Story

Lighthouse Title has served its customers since opening its doors in Holland, in 2001. Since our beginnings, the company has grown to be the title company of choice across more than 45 locations between Michigan and Wisconsin.

The company is the brainchild of three innovative industry veterans, who aspired to bring personalized real estate title and closing services to all parties involved in a transaction. Our unofficial company “mascot,” the Big Red Lighthouse, on the shores of Lake Michigan exemplifies the commitment we offer our customers. With Lighthouse Title, no one navigates their journey alone. We are here for you each and every step of the way.

2001

In April, Lighthouse Title was formed in Holland, MI. In the fall, expanded into the Grand Haven and Grand Rapids markets.

2002

Client demand and need for a location between Grand Rapids, MI and Holland, MI prompted the establishment of our Grandville, MI location.

2003

Acquisition of Keystone Title Agency in Grand Rapids, MI, merged the two Grand Rapids, MI locations. Additionally, Douglas, MI satellite closing location was added.

2004

Acquisition of Lakeshore Land and Title Agency with office locations in Ludington, MI, and Manistee, MI. Our first venture began with a community bank based in Holland, MI.

2005

Expanded into Newaygo County with the opening of our Fremont, MI Office. Purchased assets of the First American Office in Fremont, MI and merged both locations.

2006

Acquisition of Harbor Title Agency, which consisted of four West Michigan Lakeshore locations that were merged with Lighthouse locations in the same markets.

2007

Ranked in the Top 500 of Entrepreneur Magazine’s fastest-growing companies in America! Awarded Affiliate of the Year from West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors.

2008

Acquisition of Professional Abstract in Sturgis, MI occurred. Purchased assets of Chicago Title in Sturgis, MI.

2009

Expanded into Hastings, MI by purchasing assets of Advantage Title Agency, which gave us coverage in Barry County.

2010

Traverse City, MI location established. This downtown satellite office provides coverage for Grand Traverse and surrounding counties.

2011

Celebrated our 10-year anniversary! Since 2001, LTG has grown to include 14 locations, 2 ventures, and 60 amazing team members.

2012

Acquisition of Manistee Abstract and Title occurred. After building renovations, both Manistee locations were merged.

2013

Upgraded our software platform to Softpro Select and implemented the American Land Title Association (ALTA) Best Practices.

2014

Acquisition of Crawford County Title & Abstract and Roscommon County Title & Abstract serviced of out Grayling, MI. Lighthouse Title opened a Whitehall, MI location.

2015

Acquisition growth continued adding Van Buren County Abstract in Paw Paw MI; Safe Title with five West Michigan locations; and Gold Coast Title in Ludington, MI.

2016

Wisconsin acquisitions occur with Green Bay Title in Green Bay, WI and Title Trends, with Green Bay and Kewaunee, WI locations. Both Green Bay, WI offices were merged. Michigan acquisitions of Otsego County Abstract in Gaylord, MI and Montmorency Abstract in Atlanta, MI occur. Next Door Title Agency started in Caledonia, MI.

2017

Black Lake Title Agency was launched based in Holland, MI. Oak Title Services begins based in Sturgis, MI, along with a satellite location in Three Rivers, MI.

2018

Verified Title Agency is launched with locations in Big Rapids, MI and Canadian Lakes, MI. Lighthouse Title becomes a partner in Abstract & Title, based in West Bend, WI.

2019

Lighthouse Title ventures were added in: Battle Creek, MI; Cascade, MI; Kentwood, MI; ; and Wyoming, MI. Lighthouse Title headquarters moved to 321 Settlers Road, Holland, MI.

2020

Van Buren County Title adds a second location in South Haven, MI. Acquisition of Antrim County Title occurs, based in Mancelona, MI.

2021

Celebrated our 20-year anniversary in April 2021! Acquisitions continued with: Cadillac Title in Cadillac, MI; Menominee Abstract in Menominee, MI and Advanced Land Title in Hart, MI. Oak Title Services expands into St. Joseph, MI, and River West Title Agency is launched in Grandville, MI.

2022

Abstract & Title, based in West Bend, WI, becomes a wholly-owned entity of Lighthouse Title. Oak Title Services adds an additional location in Portage, MI. Delta Abstract & Title, established 1887 in Escanaba, MI, joins the Lighthouse Title family.

2023

Oneida Abstract & Title (established 1887) in Rhinelander, WI, and America’s One Title Agency (established 2006) in Grand Rapids, MI, join the Lighthouse Title family. Satellite offices in Howard City, MI and Newberry, MI are established. In December, Vilas Title Service (established 1961) in Eagle River, WI was added.

2024

Two title agencies in Bloomer, WI and Durand, WI joined under the newly branded Chippewa Valley Title (CVT) name. CVT also adds a satellite closing office in Chippewa Falls, WI.
Assurance Title Services (established 1983) located in Oshkosh, WI joined Lighthouse Title Group in April.
Lighthouse Title opens a satellite office in Iron Mountain, MI.
